Bio

Greetings ! I am a doctoral student in Communication researching the intersection of the politics of datafication, the organization of civic participation, and the materialization of infrastructures for data justice. I am currently a research assistant for the Annenberg Networks Network (ANN) and a member of the research collective Media As Sociotechnical Systems (MASTS). Recently, I became affiliated with the Environmental Data and Governance Initiative (EDGI) as a research collaborator on a voluntary basis.

My research is influenced by the fields of Critical Data Studies, Communication and Science and Technology Studies (STS) with an emphasis on collective action and publics. I have some training on qualitative and quantitative methods including participatory action research and computational social science. In my research, I aim to take a comparative approach to understand the local-global dynamics implicated in datafication, community building, and technology. Some of my projects have been presented at conferences including the International Communication Association (ICA) , Data Power, and Media and Publics.

I completed my dual master of science and arts degree in Global Media and Communication at the London School of Economics and University of Southern California. I earned my B.A. in Communication at the University of California, Davis where I was a research assistant for the Communication Research Lab: C^2. During this time I also had the opportunity to study abroad at Meiji Gakuin’s Global Studies program in Japan.

As a scholar by day and artist by night, I enjoy reading and writing just as much I enjoy breakin’ (breakdancing) to unwind and live in the moment.
